Łukasz Wiśniewski - QA Coordinator

Hi Łukasz, could you please introduce yourself?
My name is Łukasz Wiśniewski , I am 41 years old and together with my wife and 3 kids I’m living in Poland, in a small town close to Warsaw.
From the very beginning of my career, I have been involved in the food industry and food production. Despite this fact, I graduated in biological sciences (genetics/microbiology) and my first job was at a food plant of Nestle (beverages) in a microbiological laboratory. That was the start of my professional career in food technology. I have spent almost five years at the Nestle plant, first working in the laboratory, then at the quality assurance department and finally in the production area. In the next period of my professional career, I was working for a consultancy firm mainly cooperating with the brewery industry and companies like Heineken or SAB Miller. For 9 years I was visiting dozens of breweries all over Europe, advising our client in terms of hygiene and food safety aspects of production zones.
My third employer is Interfood, where I am working as a QA Coordinator in the Warsaw office since June 2017. It is great to be able to continue my career in the food/dairy industry, having the chance to become a dairy expert. During all these years, I have gathered a useful package of experience in various areas and positions within the food industry, which is very helpful for my daily work at Interfood.
Privately, I devote a lot of time and attention to my children and joint activities for the whole family. Personally, during my "free" time I like to listen to good music or read a good crime story. On top of that, I am interested in cycling, military and beer, which I am brewing myself at home during the winter season.
What was your motivation to start a job at Interfood?
At the time (mid 2017), I wanted to change jobs and the Interfood offer came at the perfect moment. Although I was aware of the fact that every change of job carries risks and uncertainty, I had to jump in.
I was looking for a job related to the food industry, in an international environment. Interfood offered me much more, because from the beginning my position was quite exceptional. I initiated QA activities in the Warsaw office and started a new phase in our history. It turned out that there was great demand for such activities and the whole team showed me a lot of support.
Since you’re working for Interfood for more than three years, what is your favorite thing about Interfood?
For me, Interfood has always been a very dynamic company, open to changes and improvements. Due to the fact that I am the first technical person at the Warsaw office, I was lucky to be part of these changes from the very beginning of my time at Interfood, both as a participant and as an observer. I am convinced that the changes not only concern the quality department but also affect the functioning of the entire company and I can see the effects every day. When you notice that your work brings benefits and your activities enable positive changes within the company, it is extremely motivating and it gives energy for continuous improvement.
About your job at Interfood, what does your average working week look like?
To be honest, I don’t have an average working day or week at Interfood. This is particularly known by all members of the Global Technical Service team. We are all involved in so many different projects, activities, visits and discussions, that it’s hard to create a stable daily schedule. The only thing we can be sure of is the unpredictability of what will happen during the working week. Most of the times we are the first contact in case of any challenges or problems, taking away the hassle of our primary process. That’s also something we can be sure of.
What do you like most about your job?
Even though I am based at the Warsaw office, I always feel like being part of the Global Technical Service Team, with members from the Netherlands, Singapore and Uruguay. I really enjoy Interfood’s global working environment. When working within a global team, you always have the opportunity to share and exchange knowledge, experiences, remarks or best practices. For me it’s a natural thing to always be able to contact other offices requesting for advice, support or just to exchange thoughts on topics such as Technical Sales or the sampling process. Together for better, a vision we all share within Interfood. Before joining Interfood I didn’t have such a good experience as I worked like a single “expert” at my previous employer. I had a lot of concerns. Compared to that time, I have met a great bunch of people and I experience a fantastic team spirit every day.
How important is the cooperation between team members from different countries and offices?
As of January 1st, 2021, our offices in Poland and the Netherlands will work as one team, as One EU Hub. This means that we will work together even more intensively. Having such a global reach with different cultural backgrounds is of great value and is a huge part of our global strength. In the technical team we have been working as one team for a while now. It proofs that despite differences, we can definitely become bigger as One EU Hub and concentrate on a common goal.
Finally, what would you say to potential new team members?
Interfood is an employer open to changes and new technologies. It is a company with a friendly working atmosphere, with a great team spirit and with a global network of colleagues, suppliers, customers and other stakeholders.
