Hi Magdalena, can you please introduce yourself?
My name is Magdalena Miszczuk, I am 35 years old, and I live in Warsaw for almost 11 years now. Currently, I’m a Junior Trader, being part of the Liquids team of our commercial department at Interfood in Warsaw.
I’m working for Interfood for almost 11 years now, of which 10 years as a Logistics Specialist. Right before joining Interfood I’ve obtained my professional degree in Economics and Logistics, but I also completed postgraduate studies at the Warsaw School of Economics, with a major in Human Resources Management.
I gained professional experience while I was at University, when I developed my interests in logistics, working for a transport company. There I took my first steps in transport, forwarding, and trade. The advantage of an international company are the opportunities for personal development, because you get to know the practice, compared to the theory during the study.
In my spare time, I enjoy various types of physical activities. Sport has always been part of my life. Currently, I’m taking my first lessons in tennis, but I have to admit that trainings are quite difficult, but success is achieved through hard work.
What was your motivation to start a job at Interfood? And what about your change from logistics to trade?
I was applying at three large international companies, one of them was Interfood. And I remember that before my interview, I read the company's history. My main motivation was the fact Interfood had an established position in the market, with great potential. The interview was great and I experienced such a good atmosphere, so when I left I said to myself; “Wow, I really want to work here, this will be my place”.
And what about my change from logistics to trade? Well, 10 years in logistics is a lot of time, where I gained a lot of experience. After some favorable circumstances and my courage and willingness to take risks, I took on the challenge of proving myself in trade.
What is your favorite thing about Interfood?
My favorite things about Interfood definitely are the atmosphere, the people, everyone’s commitment, and the opportunity to grow and improve yourself. I would not be here without it. Recently, Interfood is trying to bring employees even closer together, with many interesting proposals for integration and training courses that undoubtedly make you grow as a professional.
What do you like the most about your job?
Maybe it might sound strange, but now as a trader I like the unpredictability of the market the most. This ever-changing industry provides for interesting dynamics at work. I am still learning, some rules and behaviors are new for me, but that’s something positive. In my opinion there is nothing worse than stagnation at work.
About your job at Interfood, what does your average working week look like?
I would say that there is no average working week. Each week is different, you can’t predict what tomorrow will bring, and what will be in next week. And this is good, as you don’t have to work with a check list ticking off what you’ve done every day. I love this way of working, where you arrange your own times and where you are constantly in conversation with customers, suppliers and colleagues to discuss the current market situation and much more.
Since you’re working for Interfood for almost 11 years, what is your best memory of your time at Interfood until today?
I have so many good memories, it’s really hard for me to choose one, but generally speaking, all kinds of integration trips that we had will stay in my memory for many years. I have met so many people, and even though some of them are not working for Interfood anymore, I’m still in contact with them. We spend our free time together and I think this says a lot about the company and the people working here.
What can you tell about the culture and atmosphere at our office in Warsaw?
Generally, Poles like to build personal relationships with those they do business with and get to know people’s personalities. While people interact quite formally, there is a lot of ‘professional closeness’. For sure I can say that we are very open and helpful to each other, where trust and honesty are being valued. About the atmosphere in the office – it really is very nice, and despite the quite stressful situations we have sometimes we are trying to support each other, even with a warm word.
How important is the cooperation between Interfood Polska and Interfood BV, being one European Hub?
I think it is very important, we are one team, we play for one goal. And combined powers means more possibilities. Each of us has a lot of knowledge and experience and we continuously try to use and share this knowledge and experience in various situations.
Interfood has recognized, being a global company, we are definitely stronger as one team. And for our suppliers and customers it is a sign of strength and a guarantee of high-quality services.
