Permeate market suffers because of the strength of the Euro
As long as the Euro remains as strong as it is, the EU loses most of the export business to the US. Permeate is traded at EUR 650-700 ex works for both Western and Eastern EU permeate. With China reportedly building inventories permeate prices have very little chance of appreciation.
Americas
Permeate still feels weaker than lactose overall
The US food permeate market price is reportedly about USD 0.25/lb (550/t) ex works, but local transactions remain limited.
