Lactose

US market has further upward potential

Yoghurt products

Europe

Availability for Q3 remains tight

The lactose market feels overall balanced at a price level of EUR 1200-1300 ex works. Availability for Q3 is limited and although a few manufacturers accept lower prices than last month, most transactions still take place in the same range.

Americas

Tight market conditions and lack of export competition creates upward potential

The lactose market is very tight. Manufacturers are more or less old out for Q3. With prices in the EU still being at the high levels they are and supported by a tight local market as well, US lactose prices are expected to continue upwards. Current prices are around USD 0.47/lb (1035/t) ex works.
